Activeweave is proud to start to share with you the results of a change in direction we began 6 months ago. At that time we went looking for a way to use our collaborative technologies which would have a wide appeal and application.

We started with ideas we’d developed on the use of wikis and contribution systems in general, and thought about how we could break these free of the portal metaphor, in which contributors gather information in one place, a blog or a wiki or a website, and link it to outside sources to which it relates.
The result was Stickis, a really simple way to allow contributors to add information to the web wherever that information lives, and to share it with others.

The potential of an approach like this is explored in writings such as Adam Rifkin’s and Jason Pontin’s.

Stickis will give a voice to people’s desire to add their own perspective about content on the web, not by writing full-fledged blogs, but by adding their own “two cents.”

Micro-blogging, rating, commenting, categorizing, are all expressive activites which we think will bring great value when shared among virally grown, ad-hoc, social circles. Friends and acquaintances’ commentary on the web will help people find and evaluate information on the web, and structure their web experiences.

I’m happy that Jean asked me to help him conceive and bring Stickis to life a half year ago, and we look forward to showing and telling you more in the near future.
