Our beta is about to launch!
The last few weeks at Activeweave have been hectic. We’ve been focusing on two major things: improving reliability (squashing bugs) and increasing the social power of this first widely released version of Stickis to connect people up and mediate conversation.
This beta will be the first time that the Stickis website will be open to anyone who registers. Up to now, we’ve gated entry by invitation or special request, to keep things small and controlled. Tomorrow’s release marks the first time we open the system to unreferred registrants.
In our small initial beta community we’ve been seeing Stickis used for many of the kinds of conversations that today take place in chat or email. We’re also seeing frequent uses of Stickis to form “catalogs” or media-rich, shareable, in-place (on the webpage they talk about) bookmarks or collection of material “gleaned” from the web and then editorialized.
In the coming weeks and months we’ll work to improve Stickis’ use as a rich commentary and communication medium, and will be introducing features to increase support for Stickis mediated collaboration and the building and creation of community.
Our goal is that Stickis bring into your browser “what you care about, wherever you are on the web”, which of course entails our facilitating you and your community’s authoring much of that content and making it available to one another.
We look forward to hearing your impressions. You can always reach us, by tagging a Stickis note feedback, or by sending email to feedback at stickis.com.
